Born in Cape Town, South Africa Lyall Aston began his career in front of the lens as a model for Ralph Lauren, Diesel and Levis. In 1997 Lyall turned his talents to photography and he has never looked back.
Growing up in South Africa Lyall always had a strong desire to explore the world and from a young age he began traveling the globe. His modeling career further catered to his need to explore and took him all over Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Lyall reveled in experiencing the uniqueness and beauty of other cultures seeing first hand that all our lives are at once interconnected and individual. This has allowed him to develop an appreciation, understanding, respect and love of life and the world around him.
Lyall’s keen sense of beauty and eye for detail soon turned his attention to photography. He began his photographic career in Miami and hungry for success he quickly excelled on the other side of the camera. Working closely with Elite Models Lyall again developed a name for himself on the international stage. Lyall has shot campaign, catalog and editorial work in Asia, United Kingdom, Italy, Holland, France, South Africa, NY, Miami and LA. Prints of Lyall’s work have been featured in several NY and LA gallery shows.
Lyall’s love of film has also had a major impact in shaping his photographic style. Drawing inspiration from the lushly seductive imagery of film directors such Tony Scott and Quentin Tarantino and print and digital media artists including Gilles Bensimon and Bruce Weber. Lyall has a very clean, natural, modern cinematic photographic style and brings a rare spontaneity and enthusiasm to all projects he’s involved in.
Lyall is proficient in all formats. He is equally at home in studio or on location.
Lyall spends his time between South Africa and the United States where he is represented by one of the Worlds Largest Agencies, Artists by Timothy Priano.
