WHERE WERE YOU TEN YEARS AGO? A high-end VFX facility, servicing commercials and feature films, that completed the first D.I. in SA
HOW HAVE THINGS CHANGED IN THE LAST DECADE? Never the same job twice. While film remains the best origination medium, we have completely embraced the digital camera technology. Each shoot has a different camera and different work-flow.
BIGGEST LEARNING CURVE? The management of data and addressing the perception that digital is quick. 3D stereo is going to be our next big leap.
BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT? The speed of moving data internally on networks and internationally. The tools to achieve realistic, crafted VFX as though the director shot them in camera.
HIGHLIGHT? So many, like Tsotsi, which won an Oscar for Best Foreign Film. So many people around the world were completely fascinated by it.
TEN YEAR GOAL? To make SA a post production capital of the worls. We've hosted a World Cup; it's time for a large, CG-intensive film.
