TOP has proven to be a strong partner in service, executive and co-producing, as well as co-financing of national and international TV and feature projects. TOP is currently one of SA's most professional companies, using the boundless possibilities of filmmaking in Southern Africa. Wherever you want to go, TOP takes you there and shoots it! "Impossible" not possible! Filmmography and more info: www.topproductions.de.
WHERE WERE YOU TEN YEARS AGO? We'd been in South Africa for five years. In 2 000, we took the company over from our German partners, so it was our first year on our own. HOW HAVE THINGS CHANGED IN THE LAST DECADE? We've been able to spoil our foreign clients more and more. Cast, crew, hotel availability, transport, trailers, and general logistics - everything has become better and more professional. BIGGEST LEARNING CURVE? To convert commercials crew into long form and combine the structure from the South Africa industry with foreign expectations, so they understand what you need and don't need here. BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT? The Department of Trade and Industry rebate scheme. It helped to position us as co-producers. HIGHLIGHT? After more than 50 TV and event movies, it was a highlight to shoot both of The Three Investigators for the big screen, something we continued with Albert Schweitzer. But our biggest and most challenging project was The Sinking of The Laconia, a German/British production for ARD and The BBC. TEN YEAR GOAL? We want to continue co-producing and servicing foreign work, but we have also started to develop our own scripts. |
