Egg Films, originally a Cape Town based commercial production company, was started in 1998, as a small ‘two man’ operation.  Through a philosophy of fresh, innovative work, that was conceptually driven, partners Colin Howard and Kim Geldenhuys built a reputation for producing award winning commercials for both the South African and international market.

Within ten years, Egg Films had established itself as an industry leader,  picking up a slew of local and international accolades along the way — including 6 Grand Prix’s, and 29 Gold Loeries since 2000 — making it a regular inclusion in the Gunn Report’s ‘Most Awarded Production Companies of the World’ feature.

With the roster growing over the years, Egg expanded even further, opening offices in Johannesburg in 2007, as well as partnering with Humanoid — a production company of primarily young, creative filmmakers based in Johannesburg. Egg also began expanding beyond advertising, exploring documentaries and music videos, as well as developing feature films.

Today, Egg has cemented a reputation for outstanding work, with a hands-on Service department, that extends Egg’s core principles of innovative, creative work to a wide range of visiting international production companies, shooting in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.
